These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of SoundDBMeter.com (the “Website”). SoundDBMeter.com is operated by Addito (contact available via the Contact page).
By accessing or using the Website — including the sound Decibel Meter and related tools — you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, discontinue use of the Website.
1. Description of Services
SoundDBMeter.com provides free browser-based sound measurement tools and educational content related to decibels, sound pressure levels, noise exposure, and hearing safety.
Tools include the Online Decibel Meter, Background Noise Test, Frequency Analyzer, Tone Generator, Microphone Test, SPL Converter, Volume Level Comparator, and Noise Exposure Calculator.
All tools are provided for general informational and educational use only.
2. No Professional Advice
The Website does not provide:
- Medical advice
- Legal advice
- Occupational safety certification
- Regulatory compliance verification
- Professional acoustic consulting
Information related to hearing safety, exposure limits, and decibel levels is provided for general educational purposes. Consult a qualified professional for certified measurements, workplace compliance, or medical concerns.
Additional limitations are in the Disclaimer.
3. Microphone and Audio Use
Several tools on SoundDBMeter.com require access to your device microphone to measure sound levels in real time. By using these tools, you acknowledge that:
- Microphone access is requested only when you actively choose to start a tool — never without your explicit approval
- All audio processing occurs locally within your browser using the Web Audio API
- Audio is not recorded, stored, uploaded, or transmitted to any server
- No audio data is retained after you close or leave the tool page
Full details of audio handling are in the Privacy Policy.
4. Tool Limitations and Accuracy
Microphone-based estimation tools. The Online Decibel Meter, Background Noise Test, and Frequency Analyzer generate browser-based estimates of sound levels. Results may vary due to microphone quality, device hardware, operating system audio processing, browser implementation, and environmental conditions.
These tools are not certified Class 1 or Class 2 sound level meters and are not approved for regulatory, legal, or occupational compliance use.
Pure calculation tools. The SPL Converter, Volume Level Comparator, and Noise Exposure Calculator perform mathematical calculations on numeric values you enter. Their outputs are mathematically exact within the formula applied — they are not estimation tools. However, the usefulness of their results for regulatory purposes depends on the accuracy of the input values provided.
You assume full responsibility for how you interpret and use any results generated by the Website. For technical details, see Testing Methodology and Online Decibel Meter Accuracy.
