Privacy Policy

Last Updated: September 27, 2026

SoundDBMeter.com respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our website, sound tools, decibel calculators, microphone tools, educational guides, and related pages.

SoundDBMeter.com provides browser-based tools for estimating sound levels and learning about decibels, sound pressure level, microphone input, noise exposure, and practical audio measurement. Because some tools use microphone access, we want to be clear about how audio, browser storage, analytics, and technical information are handled.

Our microphone-based tools process audio locally in your browser. We do not record microphone audio (except a short clip you choose to record in the Microphone Test, which stays in your browser), upload microphone audio to our server, store microphone audio, or send microphone audio to an external audio-analysis API.

For more detail about microphone handling and security, please read our Data Security page.

Who We Are

SoundDBMeter.com is operated by SoundDBMeter.

You can contact us at:

General contact: contact@vocaltoollab.com

SoundDBMeter.com does not require a user account, login, subscription, or contact form to use the website.

Information We May Process

The information we may process depends on how you use the site.

We may process:

  • Browser and device information
  • IP address or approximate location
  • Pages visited on SoundDBMeter.com
  • Referring pages or traffic source
  • General interaction events
  • Google Analytics 4 cookies, identifiers, or session information
  • Hosting, error, and security logs
  • Tool settings or recent results saved in your browser
  • Email address and message content if you contact us by email

We do not operate a contact form. If you email us, we process the information you choose to include so we can read, manage, and respond to your message.

Microphone and Audio Processing

Some SoundDBMeter.com tools, such as the sound decibel meter, need microphone access to estimate sound levels or check audio input.

Microphone access starts only after you take an action, such as selecting a start button on a microphone-based tool. Your browser will ask whether you want to allow microphone access. You can allow, deny, stop, or later revoke microphone permission through your browser or device settings.

When microphone access is allowed, SoundDBMeter.com analyzes the microphone signal locally in your browser during the active tool session.

SoundDBMeter.com does not:

  • Record microphone audio, except a Microphone Test clip you choose to record, which stays in your browser
  • Upload microphone audio to our server
  • Store microphone audio
  • Sell microphone audio
  • Use microphone audio for advertising
  • Use microphone audio for affiliate tracking
  • Send microphone audio to an external audio-analysis API
  • Use microphone audio to identify you
  • Create voiceprints or biometric identity profiles
  • Use audio to authenticate your identity

The audio signal is used only to provide the tool result you requested.

The Frequency Analyzer and the Audio Loudness Meter can also analyze an audio file you choose. The file is decoded and analyzed in your browser and is not uploaded to our server.

For more information, read How SoundDBMeter.com Works.

Tool Results and Browser Storage

Some tools may save settings, preferences, calibration values, or recent results in your browser through localStorage.

This may include:

  • Calibration offset
  • Recent measurement summaries
  • Tool preferences
  • Display settings
  • Calculator values
  • Browser-side tool state

localStorage is stored on your device within your browser. It helps tools remember information when you return using the same device and browser.

CSV files and report images that some tools offer are created in your browser and saved directly to your device; they are not sent to us.

Because browser-local information may not be sent to SoundDBMeter.com, we may not be able to access, export, correct, or delete it from our server side. You can usually remove it by clearing cookies and site data for SoundDBMeter.com in your browser settings.

If you use another browser, clear site data, or switch devices, locally stored values may not transfer.

For more detail, read our Cookies Policy.

Google Analytics 4

SoundDBMeter.com uses Google Analytics 4 to understand general website usage and improve our pages, tools, performance, and content.

Google Analytics may process information such as:

  • Pages visited
  • Approximate location
  • Browser type
  • Device type
  • Referring page
  • Session information
  • General interaction events

Google Analytics is not used to record microphone audio. It is not used to store your live microphone stream, sound measurement session, or audio input.

SoundDBMeter.com does not currently display ads, use affiliate links, or operate a cookie consent management platform.

Hosting and Technical Logs

SoundDBMeter.com is hosted through Hostinger.

Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure may process technical information needed to deliver pages, keep the site working, troubleshoot problems, and protect against misuse.

This may include:

  • IP address

  • Requested page URL
  • Date and time of request
  • Error logs
  • Security-related logs

These logs are used for website operation, performance, debugging, security, reliability, and abuse prevention. They are not microphone recordings and do not contain your live audio stream from the sound meter.

Technical logs may be retained for a limited period according to hosting, security, and operational needs.

These may include:

  • Google Analytics 4 cookies or identifiers
  • Essential browser storage used for website or tool functionality
  • localStorage for tool settings, calibration values, or recent results

We may also disclose information if required by law, valid legal process, security needs, or to protect the rights, safety, and operation of SoundDBMeter.com, users, or others.

SoundDBMeter.com does not currently display advertising or use affiliate tracking. We do not sell microphone audio, upload microphone audio, or share microphone audio with an external audio-analysis API.

International Visitors

SoundDBMeter.com may be accessed from many countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and European countries.

Our hosting, analytics, and email-related providers may process information in countries outside your location. Privacy laws and rights may differ depending on where you live.

Where privacy rights apply, we will review requests according to the applicable law and the information we actually control.

Data Retention

Retention depends on the type of information.

Microphone audio is not uploaded to or stored by SoundDBMeter.com. A clip you record in the Microphone Test exists only in your browser until you replace it or close the page, unless you download it.

Browser-side localStorage may remain on your device until you clear it, your browser removes it, or the tool overwrites it.

Google Analytics data is retained according to our analytics settings and Google’s applicable controls.

Email correspondence may be retained as long as reasonably necessary to respond, provide support, maintain records, address security issues, or handle legal and operational needs.

Hosting and technical logs may be retained for a limited period according to hosting, security, and operational requirements.

Children’s Privacy

SoundDBMeter.com is not directed to children under 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The site does not require accounts, logins, subscriptions, or contact forms.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information to us by email or another method, contact us at support@vocaltoollab.com so we can review the request.

Your Choices and Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights related to personal information. These may include the right to request access, correction, deletion, objection, restriction, portability, or information about how personal information is handled.

These rights vary by jurisdiction and may not apply in every situation.

You can also control some information directly:

  • Deny microphone permission
  • Stop a microphone-based measurement
  • Revoke microphone permission in your browser settings
  • Clear cookies and site data
  • Clear localStorage
  • Use browser privacy controls
  • Contact us about privacy requests

Because some tool information may exist only in your browser, SoundDBMeter.com may not be able to access, export, correct, or delete browser-local data from our server side.

For privacy-related requests, email support@vocaltoollab.com with the subject line Privacy Request.

Please include enough information for us to understand your request. Do not send passwords, government identification documents, medical records, private recordings, or other sensitive documents unless we specifically ask and it is necessary.

Security

SoundDBMeter.com uses a data-minimizing approach. We avoid collecting information that is not needed for the website or tools to work.

Microphone audio is processed locally in your browser and is not recorded on or uploaded to SoundDBMeter.com servers.

However, no website, browser, device, server, or internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device, browser, network, and email account.

For more detail, read our Data Security page.

Measurement and Professional Use Limits

SoundDBMeter.com provides educational tools and estimated sound-level readings.

Browser-based results can vary by microphone, device, browser processing, distance, background noise, room reflections, calibration, and environment. These estimates are useful for general awareness and comparison, but they are not certified or compliance-grade measurements, and a browser tool is not a Class 1 or Class 2 sound level meter.

SoundDBMeter.com should not be used as the only basis for:

  • Workplace noise compliance
  • OSHA or NIOSH reporting
  • Legal noise disputes
  • Apartment complaint proof
  • Medical or hearing diagnosis
  • Insurance claims
  • Product certification
  • Professional acoustic reports
  • Regulatory documentation

For certified or compliance-grade measurements, use calibrated professional equipment and qualified expertise.

Read our Disclaimer, Terms of Service and Online Decibel Meter Accuracy pages for more information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our website, tools, service providers, legal requirements, or privacy practices.

When we update this policy, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of the page. Where practical, we may also highlight material changes.
