Privacy at a Glance

SoundDBMeter.com currently:

  • does not require user accounts;
  • does not use Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager;
  • does not display AdSense or other third-party advertising;
  • does not use affiliate-tracking technologies;
  • does not sell personal information;
  • does not use behavioral advertising;
  • does not send microphone audio to an external audio API;
  • does not send tool results to analytics or another external service.

Some tools use localStorage to retain settings or results on your device. Hostinger also processes standard server-log information required to host, operate and protect the website.

Microphone Access and Audio Processing

Some tools, including the Online Decibel Meter, Background Noise Test, Frequency Analyzer and Microphone Test, require access to your device’s microphone.

Microphone access begins only after you start a relevant tool and grant permission through your browser.

When a microphone tool is active:

  • the browser captures a live audio signal;
  • the signal is processed within the browser;
  • microphone audio is not sent to SoundDBMeter.com’s server;
  • microphone audio is not sent to an external audio-processing API;
  • derived results are not sent to Google Analytics or another analytics service.

Live audio may be held temporarily in browser memory while the tool performs its analysis. The website does not create a server-side audio recording from this input.

You can stop microphone access by stopping the tool, closing the page or changing the site’s microphone permission in your browser settings.

More information about how the tools operate is available in our Testing Methodology.

Tool Results and LocalStorage

SoundDBMeter.com uses browser localStorage for certain functional purposes, which may include:

  • calibration preferences;
  • recent measurement results;
  • Online Hearing Test responses or results;
  • other tool settings needed to maintain the interface.

This information remains within the browser and device where it was created. It is not automatically transmitted to SoundDBMeter.com, Hostinger, an analytics provider or an external audio service.

LocalStorage may remain after you close the browser. You can remove it by:

  • using a tool’s available clear or reset control;
  • clearing stored site data in your browser;
  • clearing browser history and website storage, depending on your browser settings.

Clearing localStorage may reset saved calibration values, recent sessions and other tool preferences.

Calculation and Audio-Output Tools

Tools such as the SPL Converter, Decibel Calculator, Noise Exposure Calculator and Tempo Calculator process values entered by the user within the browser.

The Tone Generator creates audio output through the browser and the selected speaker or headphones. It does not require microphone access unless another feature explicitly requests it.

Values entered into these tools are not sent to an analytics platform or external calculation service.

Information Processed Automatically

When you visit the website, Hostinger may automatically process standard technical information through server logs, such as:

  • IP address;
  • requested page;
  • date and time of access;
  • browser and device information;
  • operating system;
  • referring page;
  • error and security information.

This information may be used to:

  • deliver the website;
  • maintain availability and performance;
  • investigate errors;
  • prevent spam, abuse or malicious activity;
  • protect the website and hosting infrastructure.

Server-log information is not used by SoundDBMeter.com for behavioral advertising or user profiling.

Analytics, Advertising and Affiliate Tracking

SoundDBMeter.com currently does not use:

  • Google Analytics;
  • Google Tag Manager;
  • Google AdSense;
  • another advertising network;
  • affiliate-tracking scripts;
  • behavioral analytics;
  • social-media tracking pixels.

The website’s Facebook presence is linked through a normal external link. SoundDBMeter.com does not currently embed a Facebook tracking pixel or Facebook widget.

If analytics, advertising, affiliate tracking or another non-essential technology is introduced, this Privacy Policy and the Cookies Policy will be updated. Where applicable, consent controls will be implemented before non-essential technologies are activated.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

SoundDBMeter.com does not currently use advertising or analytics cookies. Essential cookies or similar technologies may be used where necessary for website functionality, hosting or security.

The website also uses localStorage for the functional purposes described above. LocalStorage is not a traditional cookie, but it stores information on the user’s device and is therefore disclosed as a similar browser-storage technology.

Because the current website does not use non-essential analytics or advertising technologies, it does not display a cookie-consent banner. This may change if the website’s technology or legal requirements change.

Read the Cookies Policy for additional details.

Information You Provide by Email

SoundDBMeter.com uses direct email rather than a WordPress contact form.

When you email us, we may receive:

  • your email address;
  • your name or signature, if provided;
  • the subject and content of your message;
  • attachments you choose to include;
  • normal email metadata.

This information is used to review and respond to your inquiry, investigate a reported problem, process an applicable privacy request or maintain necessary records of the communication.

Please do not send passwords, identification documents, medical records, confidential workplace information or private audio recordings unless specifically requested and reasonably necessary.

SoundDBMeter.com does not use contact messages for email marketing.

Service Providers

Limited information may be processed by service providers needed to operate and communicate through the website.

These include:

  • Hostinger, which provides website hosting and processes server logs;
  • the email services involved in delivering and storing direct email communications;
  • internet and technical infrastructure providers required to route website and email traffic.

These providers process information according to their own contractual terms and privacy practices. SoundDBMeter.com does not sell personal information to them.

Data Retention

Information is retained according to its purpose:

  • LocalStorage: remains on your device until you clear it, reset the tool or the website removes or changes the stored value;
  • Server logs: retained by Hostinger according to its operational, security and legal requirements;
  • Contact emails: retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, investigate an issue, maintain appropriate records or comply with legal obligations;
  • Backups: deleted information may remain temporarily in routine backups until those backups are overwritten.

Retention may vary when information must be preserved for security, dispute resolution or legal compliance.

Legal Bases Where Applicable

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, information may be processed:

  • for legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving the website;
  • to respond to a message or request initiated by you;
  • with consent where consent is required;
  • to comply with a legal obligation;
  • to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Browser microphone permission controls technical access to your microphone. It does not authorize unrelated use of microphone data.

Data Security

Reasonable administrative and technical measures are used to protect the website and information received by email.

Local microphone processing reduces the need to transmit audio to the website’s server. However, no website, browser, hosting system or email service can guarantee absolute security.

International Processing

Hostinger, email services and internet infrastructure providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Their locations and safeguards depend on the services and infrastructure used to deliver the website and email.

Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, relevant service providers are expected to apply the mechanisms available to them.

Children’s Privacy

SoundDBMeter.com is intended for a general audience and does not knowingly request personal information from children.

Children should not email personal information without the involvement of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact us so that the request can be reviewed and the information deleted where appropriate.

The Online Hearing Test is an educational tool and not a clinical assessment.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to:

  • request access to personal information;
  • request correction of inaccurate information;
  • request deletion;
  • object to or restrict certain processing;
  • request a portable copy where applicable;
  • withdraw consent where processing depends on consent;
  • lodge a complaint with an appropriate data-protection authority.

These rights are not absolute and may depend on the type of information, legal basis and applicable exceptions.

SoundDBMeter.com does not currently sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Therefore, there is no sale or advertising-sharing activity to opt out of.

To submit a request, email contact@sounddbmeter.com with the subject line “Privacy Request.” We may request limited information to verify that the request relates to you.

External Links

SoundDBMeter.com links to government agencies, technical organizations, social networks and other external websites. Those websites control their own data practices. Review their privacy notices before submitting information to them.

Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated when the website’s tools, storage practices, service providers, monetization or legal obligations change.

The effective date will be updated when a material revision is published. Additional notice or consent will be provided where required.
