Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

At SoundDBMeter.com, we are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how our website works. This Privacy Policy explains what information is handled when you visit or use our tools and educational resources.

SoundDBMeter.com is operated by Addito (contact available via the Contact page).

We intentionally design this website to minimise data collection and maximise user privacy. We do not require user accounts, do not sell personal information, and do not operate behavioural tracking or advertising systems.

1. Overview

SoundDBMeter.com provides browser-based sound measurement tools and educational content about decibels, sound pressure levels, and noise safety. More about the site’s purpose is on the About page.

Our approach to privacy:

  • We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party analytics platform
  • We do not use advertising networks or behavioural tracking systems
  • We do not record, store, or transmit microphone audio
  • We do not sell or share personal information with third parties
  • We do not require account registration or personal profiles

2. Microphone Access and Audio Processing

Microphone-based tools. The Online Decibel Meter, Background Noise Test, Frequency Analyzer, and Microphone Test require access to your device microphone to measure or analyse sound in real time.

When you use these tools:

  • Microphone access is requested only when you actively choose to start the tool
  • Audio input is processed locally within your web browser using the Web Audio API
  • Audio is not recorded, stored, uploaded, or transmitted to any server at any point
  • No sound recordings are retained after your session ends
  • All audio data is cleared when you close or leave the tool page

You may revoke microphone permissions at any time through your browser settings without affecting your ability to access educational content or the non-microphone tools on this site.

A full technical explanation of how audio is processed is in the Testing Methodology page.

Pure calculation tools. The SPL Converter, Volume Level Comparator, and Noise Exposure Calculator do not use your microphone and do not capture any audio data. They perform mathematical calculations on numeric values you type. No audio privacy considerations apply to these tools.

3. Information Automatically Processed

Limited technical information may be processed automatically by your browser or web hosting infrastructure when you visit this website. This may include IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, and basic server access logs.

This information is used only for website functionality, security monitoring, and preventing abusive or malicious activity. It is not used for advertising, user profiling, or behavioural tracking.

4. Analytics and Advertising

SoundDBMeter.com does not use:

  • Google Analytics or any third-party analytics platform
  • Advertising networks of any kind
  • Behavioural tracking systems
  • Targeted advertising technologies
  • Social media tracking pixels

This website operates without advertising-based monetisation. There are no advertising cookies, no DoubleClick cookies, and no third-party tracking scripts on any page of this site.

5. Cookies

SoundDBMeter.com does not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies. Only essential functional cookies may be used where required for basic website operation and security.

Full details on what cookies this site uses — and does not use — are in the Cookies Policy.

6. Information You Provide Voluntarily

If you contact SoundDBMeter.com through the Contact page, we receive your email address and the content of your message. This information is used only to respond to your inquiry. It is not shared with third parties, not used for marketing, and not retained longer than necessary to resolve the inquiry.

We do not collect names, phone numbers, or payment information through any part of this website.

7. Third-Party Links

This website references external sources such as NIOSH, OSHA, WHO, and other educational resources. These links are provided for informational purposes. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of external websites. A list of reference sources used in educational content is on the References page.

8. Data Security

Reasonable technical and organisational measures are in place to protect the website and any voluntarily submitted information against unauthorised access. The browser-based design of the audio tools — in which all processing occurs locally and no audio reaches any server — means the most sensitive user data (your voice and sound environment) is never exposed to server-side risk.

9. Children’s Privacy

SoundDBMeter.com is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through the Contact page, please notify us via the Contact page so it can be removed.

10. Your Privacy Rights

EU and EEA users (GDPR): You have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection regarding personal data held about you. Because this site does not maintain user accounts or personal profiles, the only personal data that may exist is information voluntarily submitted through the Contact page. California residents (CCPA): You have rights to know, delete, and correct personal information. You also have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.
